WHO CREATED THE COURSE?
The National Family Medicine Board Review Course was developed by The Department of Family Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, The Journal of Family Practice, and Primary Care Medical Abstracts. Together these organizations have pooled their talents to create a board preparation course that is unique. It has one goal -- to provide participants with a cost-effective, high-yield educational experience that will result in the successful passage of the family practice certification/recertification examinations.

The Department of Family Medicine of Michigan State University
The Department of Family Medicine of Michigan State University was established in 1974 and is currently ranked among the top ten family medicine training programs in the country. The department has an outstanding reputation for clinical research, faculty development and, most importantly, front-line training of physicians to practice state-of-the-art family medicine. The department has been the recipient of multiple awards in recognition of its teaching excellence. The MSU Family Medicine Residency Network is a collaborative extension of the Department of Family Medicine with nine family medicine residency programs in eight communities in Michigan. With approximately 100 full-time faculty and 240 residents, the MSU Network is among the largest collaborative groups training family physicians in the United States.

The Journal of Family Practice

The Journal of Family Practice is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes evidence-based clinical information supplemented by expert commentary on timely topics relevant to family physicians. It is endorsed by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the North American Primary Care Research Group, the Association of Departments of Family Medicine, and the Association of Family Practice Residency Directors. The Journal, which is published monthly, reaches 95,000 family physicians and has an ongoing commitment to primary care education.

Primary Care Medical Abstracts

Primary Care Medical Abstracts is a monthly publication that surveys more than 600 journals and provides subscribers with the latest information in primary care. The information is available in print, via computer database, and online. A 110-minute audio cassette or CD accompanies the abstracts to provide editorial perspective and commentary. The parent company of Primary Care Medical Abstracts is The Center for Medical Education, Inc. The Center has been producing evidence-based courses since 1980 with over 30,000 physicians attending. As the coproducer of the largest board review course in the field of emergency medicine, the Center has used its experience with this highly successful course to develop the National Family Medicine Board Review Course.
